CHAPTER 22.
Landin the Nephew of Don Quadragante arrived in Ireland, and spake secretly with the Queen, as he had been enjoined to do. And when she heard of the great discord, albeit she knew that her father King Abies of Ireland had been slain by the hand of Amadis, as it is written in the first part of this history, and though she bore in her heart that enmity which in such cases is usual, yet she considered it was better to remedy present evils then resent the past. Therefore she spake with those whom she trusted, and so devised that great aid was made ready for her uncle Don Quadragante without the knowledge of King Cildadan. Thusas you have heard were all these various forces raised, and ready when they should be needed, having such good will and eagerness as they who would be conquerors.
