La Femme de Trente Ans.Six divisions. The first,Premières Fautes,appeared in theRevue des Deux Mondesin September, 1831, under the title ofLe Rendez-vous.The second,Souffrances Inconnues,appeared in the fourth volume of the third edition of theScènes de la Vie Privée,1834, as did also the third,À Trente Ans.The fourth,Le Doigt de Dieu,was published in two parts: the first, bearing the same title, in theRevue de Paris,March, 1831; the second, entitledLa Vallée du Torrent,in the fourth volume of the third edition of theScènes de la Vie Privée,1834. The fifth division,Les Deux Rencontres,appeared in theRevue de Paris,January, 1831. The sixth and last division was first published under the title ofL’Expiationin the fourth volume of the second edition of theScènes de la Vie Privée,1832. Reunited finally under the title ofLa Femme de Trente Ans,these different headings disappeared on their entrance into the fifth edition of theScènes de la Vie Privée,1842.

Le Père Goriot.Originally appeared in theRevue de Paris,in December, 1834, and January, 1835. A second edition was published the same year byWerdetand Spachmann. In 1843 it entered the third edition of theScènes de la Vie Parisienne.
