Refreshment Set
MATERIALS—Lily Pearl Cotton size 5 (50-yd. balls):—3-balls White, 2-balls Lt. Green for Doily and a partial ball each Yellow, Salmon Rose, Lavender and Blue for Coasters (sufficient for Doily and 4 Coasters). Crochet hook size 7. CRAZY DAISY WINDER.
COASTER—Daisy—Following instructions on page2, wind White thread around and around as in Illustration D, until there are 5 lps around each pair of spokes. Push handle of crochet hook down between petals to separate. Cut thread 24” long and weave center as in Ill. E except go under 2 petals and back over one for each st,—making a 12-petal flower with 5 lps in each petal. Edge—Without separating petals, make 7 sc in end of each.ROW 2—Sl st in 1st 4 sc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sc, holding back the last lp of each on hook, thread over and pull thru all 4 lps on hook at once (a Cluster), ch 12 and drop thread and ch in front of work, but do not cut. Working behind this lp, sl st in a color between sc in next angle between petals, ch 3, a 3-dc-Cluster in same place, ch 12 and drop this thread and ch down in front. ** Pick up White thread and ch and working behind colored ch, make a 4-dc-Cluster in center sc of next petal, * ch 13, turn, sl st back in previous Cluster at starting end of 12-ch, ch 1, turn and working over both chs, cover them with 15 sc, sc in Cluster, ch 12 and drop this in front. * Pick up colored ch and working behind White ch, make a 4-dc-Cluster between sc in next angle between petals. Repeat from * to *. Repeat from ** around (12 White lps and 12 colored lps alternated). Cut each thread 6” long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. Repeat for each Coaster.
DOILY—Make 6 Coasters, using Green for colored lps. Tack tog. into a circle by 1 colored and 2 White lps on each side of each, leaving 3 colored and 2 White lps free on each on inside of circle between joinings.Center—Wind White twice around each spoke of WINDER as in Ill. C, cut 14” long and weave center as in Ill. E, making a 12-petal flower with 2 lps in each petal.Edge—Sc thru both lps of one petal, (ch 7, sc in next petal) 11 times, ch 7, sl st in 1st sc.ROW 2—Ch 1, sc in next lp, * (ch 4, sc in same lp) twice, ch 4, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around. Join with 2-ch, hdc in 1st sc.ROW 3—(Ch 4, sc in next lp) repeated around, with 2-ch and hdc for end lp.ROW 4—** Ch 10, sl st in 1st Green lp to right of joining of 2 Coasters, ch 4, sl st in 1st Green lp to left of joining, ch 5, sk last 5 sts of 10-ch, dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in next 3d ch st, ch 1, sc in next 4-ch lp, ch 3, sc in next lp, * ch 7, sl st in 1 lp of 4th ch st from hook for a p, ch 2, sl st in next White lp on Coaster, ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for a p, ch 2, sk previous p, sl st in next 2d ch st, ch 1, sc in next 4-ch lp, ch 3, sc in next lp. Repeat from * once. Repeat from ** 5 times. Fasten off.
Stretch and pin work right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
