MATERIALS—Lily SKYTONE Mercerized Crochet Cotton:—4-balls Cream and 3-balls Salmon Rose. Crochet hook size 10. CRAZY DAISY WINDER.
Size—31″ x 42″.
BLOCK—Daisy—Following instructions on page2, Illustration C, wind Cream 5 times around spokes 1 and 2 of Winder, * hold thumb on strands in center (and wind from right-to-left around spoke 10 and from left-to-right around spoke 9) 5 times. Repeat from * around spokes 6 and 5. Cut 16″ long and weave center as in Ill. E, making 13 sts around (2 rows), going under 3 petals and back over 2 petals with each st,—making a 6-petal flower with 5 lps in each petal.
Edge—Sc in Salmon Rose thru all 5 lps of one petal, ch 3, 13 dc in same petal, (ch 1, 14 dc in next petal) 5 times, ch 1, sl st in top of 1st 3-ch. Cut 6″ long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back.ROW 2—Sc in Cream in a 1-ch sp between petals, * (ch 3, dc in next 3d dc) twice, ** (ch 5, sc in 2 lps of 5th ch st from hook for a p, ch 1, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 3, dc in next 3d dc, ch 3, sc in 1-ch between petals. Repeat from * 5 times. Fasten off.
2d BLOCK—Repeat to ** in Row 2. Ch 5, p, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 3, sl st in center p on one corner of 1st Block, * ch 2, sk last 2 sts of 3-ch, sc back in next ch st to complete joining p, ch 1, dc in next dc, * ch 3, sl st in next p on 1st Block and repeat from * to *. Complete petal and join the 1st 2 ps on next petal in the same way to the next 2 ps on 1st Block, then complete Block as for 1st Block.
3d BLOCK—Join between 1st 2 Blocks:—Join 2d and 3d ps on 1st petal to corresponding ps on 2d Block, join the 1st p on next petal to next (free) p on 2d Block, join the next p to joining of 1st 2 Blocks, join the next p to next (free) p on 1st Block, join the 1st 2 ps on next petal to the next 2 ps on 1st Block and complete Block.
Make 113 Blocks and join as follows:—Join 6 Blocks in a circle around 1st (center) Block. Make a 2d row around of 12 Blocks, a 3d row of 18 Blocks, a 4th row of 24 Blocks and a 5th row of 30 Blocks. Then add a row of 11 Blocks across 2 sides and add a 2d row of 11 Blocks to 1st row.
EDGE—Join Cream to 2d of 8 ps on one corner Block, ch 3 for a dc, (ch 7, dc in next p) twice, ch 7, dtr in sc between petals, * (ch 7, dc in next p) 3 times, ch 7, dtr in sc between petals, ch 7, dtr in next p, dtr in 1st p on next Block, ch 7, dtr in sc between petals. Repeat from * around, with each corner like 1st one. Join final 7-ch to 3d st of 1st lp.ROW 2—(5 sc, ch 5, sl st in last sc for a p, and 4 sc) repeated in each 7-ch lp around. Fasten off.
Stretch and pin right-side-down on a large, padded board or table, or on curtain or quilting frames. Steam and press dry thru a cloth (see Blocking Instructions on page31).
