“TEXTURED IN BEAUTY”

MATERIALS—Lily Homestead Crochet and Knitting Cotton, Art. 131 in skeins or Art. 205 in balls:—

Single Size—26-sks. Ecru or 32-sks. White; or 22-balls Ecru or 26-balls White or Cream.

Double Size—29-sks. Ecru or 36 sks. White; or 24-balls Ecru or 29-balls White or Cream.Gauge—Each Block measures about 4½”. For single size spread about 77” x 108”, make 17 x 24 Blocks; for double size spread about 86” x 108” make 19 x 24 Blocks. Crochet hook size 10. CRAZY DAISY WINDER.

BLOCK—Daisy—Following instructions on page2, wind 6 times around each spoke of Winder, as in Illustration C. Cut 16” long and weave center as in Ill. E, making a 12-petal flower with 6 lps in each petal.Edge—With Daisy wrong-side-up, make sc thru all 6 lps of one petal. (Be careful to have lps straight and untwisted). * Ch 6, 5 tr in starting st of 6-ch, holding back the last lp of each tr on hook, thread over and pull thru all 6 lps at once for a Cluster puff st, ch 1, sc in next petal. Repeat from * around, joining with sl st in 1st sc.ROW 2—Turn, (ch 13, sc in sc between next 2 Clusters) 11 times, ch 6, dtr between next 2 Clusters.

ROW 3—Ch 6, dc in 1 lp of center st of next lp, (ch 3, dc) 3 times in same st, * (ch 3, dc) 4 times in center st of each lp around. End with (ch 3, dc) 3 times in dtr at end of last row, ch 3, sl st in 3d st of next 6-ch. Cut 6” long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back.

2d BLOCK—Repeat to * in Row 3. (Ch 3, dc) twice in center st of next lp, ch 1, sl st in one shell on 1st Block, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) back in same st to complete shell. Join the next shell in same way to the next shell on 1st Block. Continue to make and join Blocks by 2 shells on each side of each, leaving one shell free between joinings.

Fill-in Motif—Join to one free shell in opening between 4 Blocks, ch 7 and make a long tr (thread over 5 times and work off in twos) in next joining of Blocks, (ch 2, tr in next free shell, ch 2, a long tr in next joining of Blocks) 3 times, ch 2 sl st in 5th st of 1st 7-ch. Ch 3, (sk next long tr, dc in next tr) 3 times, sl st in top of 1st dc. Fasten off. Repeat in each opening between Blocks.

Stretch and pin spread right-side-down on curtain or quilting frames (see Blocking Instructions on page31).
