A well-proportioned Hat in every respect, and may, not inaptly, be termed theUniversal, as it becomes most persons who wear it; in point of form, there is nothing of what may be calledcharacterorsingularityin its appearance, and has the rare property of giving to thewearera sort of dignified affability, a courteous condescension, together with an agreeable modesty, at least inappearance. It is named after a certain nobleman, who has all the above qualities united, although in theprime of life. To show to advantage on the head, this Hat should not go lower than the tip of the ears, both of which it may barely touch, unless the wearer has a short neck, in that case it must be worn somewhat aside, touching one ear only, but by no means to bethrown back.
