224. What change is wrought in us in the New Birth?
We get a new heart or a new spiritual life; namely,
In the understanding, a new spiritual light;In the conscience, real peace and joy;In the will, a holy desire and a steadfast purpose.
Ezek. 36:26. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.Eph. 4:24. Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.Gal. 5:22. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.
