THE FOX RIVER.
O beautiful river,How gently amongThe fields and the forestsThou glidest along!’Mid thy pleasant valleysAnd cool shady bow’rs,Grow tall fragrant grassesAnd bright blooming flow’rs.By day o’er thy watersThe sun beameth bright,And stars ever twinkleAbove thee by night. And never complainingThou flowest along’Mid nature’s wide provinceWith laughter and song:Content with thy missionIn nature’s great plan; And such is thy lessonThou teachest to man.
