COMPANY G.CAPTAIN.Charles C. Doten, Plymouth.Resigned on account of ill health, May 20, 1863. Capt. Doten was in command of the color division (Companies A and G) at the battle of Bisland, and received the especial commendation of Gens. Banks and Emory for his courage and coolness on that occasion. Never allowing passion to overcome his judgment in dealing with the men in the ranks, to whom the new restraints of military discipline were often rendered unnecessarily irritating by the overbearing manners of petty officers, the resignation of Captain Doten was regretted by the entire command.
